RUSTYS TIE ROD CONVERSION Price: $180 or so from Rustys Off-road Cause: Had bump steer and 3" lift install, wanted better steering setup to fix. Basics: Ok, Installing was real easy. Just used a pickle fork to pop off all the old tie rod ends and the pitman rod end. The I just lengthened the new tie rod setup to match the holes. Tightened down all nuts and installed the steering stabilizer. Then I went off to the alignment shop. And the guys where amazed. No adjustment needed. Lucky me. I was very sure not to move the tires at all during the install process. So it should have been pretty close. Pros: Great steering radius, Ease of turning better, more flex in front end. Cons: Loss of "Center" in steering wheel, Wheels will over steer easier (so to speak), no good steering stabilizer attach point, little different feel to steering, not really for a lift over 3" with stock pitman arm.
